Economist Says Northern Colorado construction can be slowed
If the slowdown in construction in northern Colorado?
It is the view of John Green, an industry economist Fort Collins, said there are several signs that’s going to be. The construction sector, he said, is that the trip was the economic sector.
Under the sign is down 6 per cent of building permits for Weld County until November this year compared to the same period a year ago.
Green said, a substantial portion of these figures the total number of permits granted in October 2001, after the events of 11 September, compared to these questions allows the October 2002.
Last October, there were 196 permits issued by the Planning Department of Weld.
The 90 October, there were
“This is important,” said Green. “After 9-11, everything slows down, but now also have a slowdown? This is not a good sign.” The November figures show some improvement in this in recent years - a total of 146 permits this year compared to 129 in November 2001 - Green said, but there are other indications in the construction sector may be slowed or at least the level.
The value of all permits issued by the county until November this year was $ 118.4 million, against nearly $ 140.5 million for the same period a year ago.
“I believe that the number of people who start northern Colorado, Drop-off and the number of building permits must be taken are,” said Green.
Other factors are an initiative of transportation in Fort Collins, might have said, spending several million dollars on road construction and improvements. The initiative was launched by seven votes.
“He stayed on this way of telling the same,” said Green.
And he said, the state could lose several million dollars in the construction of the highway, if not lower right of the alcohol limit for drunken driving offences .1 percent to .08 for cent.
“We are talking about a lot of money goes to the construction industry with only these two points,” said Green.
